VOLUNTEERING IN KENYA

As at 2016, the total number of volunteers in Kenya was 13,950,631 .... This is 6 million shy of the current number of registered voters. Further statistics show that; - Volunteers contributed to 3.66 % of Kenya's GDP. - 66.48% of total volunteers were between the ages of 18 - 35. - 54.17% of the beneficiaries of volunteer work were communities while 45.86% were individuals and institutions. - 58.35% of volunteers were in urban areas while 41.65% were in rural areas. What am I saying ? ... Youth have been contributing to the development of this country in a big way and we should never be taken as pawns in anyone's manifesto. Some of the promises made are not new to us and what they should be doing is to look for avenues to strengthen the already existing youth mobilization structures and scale up their efforts especially in ensuring they're able to earn more and better income. The Laikipia Senator passed on last night at a Nairobi hospital. He served as a Minister in President Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi governments. He is the fourth senator to pass on in the current Senate. Other senators who have passed on include Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni), Otieno Kajwang (Homa Bay), and Juma Boy (Kwale) According to family sources the veteran politician was admitted to the hospital last week and was pronounced dead at 11 pm on Thursday night in the presence of his family members. "Our father has been ailing for some time now and has left us. FUNCTIONS OF KRA COMMISIONER GENERAL

11. Commissioner-General (1) There shall be a Commissioner-General of the Authority who shall be appointed by the Minister upon the recommendation of the Board on such terms and conditions as are specified in his instrument of appointment. (2) The Commissioner-General shall be the Chief Executive of the Authority and, subject to the general supervision and control of the Board, shall be responsible— (a) for the day to day operations of the Authority; (b) for the management of funds, property and affairs of the Authority; and (c) for the administration, organization and control of the staff of the Authority.
