\     TOPIC VI   NETWORK   ANALYSIS     DEFINITION   ü   Term used for a family of related techniques developed to aid management plan and control prices.   ü   The technique   show the interrelationship of the various jobs or tasks which make up the overall project and its critical parts.   ü   Most valuable where projects are complex, large and where restrictions exist.   ü   More commonly used terms in network analysis include: Critical Path Planning (CPP), Critical Path Analysis(CPA), Critical Path Scheduling(CPS), Critical Path Method(CPM) and Programme Evaluation and Review Technique(PERT).   Basic terminologies include;   ü   Activity - a task or job of work which takes time and resources eg verifying the debtors in a sales ledger, etc represented by an arrow     ü   Event - a point in time and indicates the start or finish of an activity represented by a circle
